Mysterious Machine: Questioning our role in the living machine of the Universe

It started with a dream I could not have imagined:

I have long understood there was far more to the Universe than we humans could experience with our limited physical senses. I have also long believed in the power of dreams to help us interpret our inner world. Or course, we have all heard stories of sages, gurus, and highly spiritual masters having prophetic dreams and receiving messages from the beyond while they wander through the dream world. Until last week, I have not had a dream that made me question our reality so profoundly before.

I wish I would have recorded more of the dream, as all I have now are remnants of the essence and flashes of emotional images. However, I will do my best to recount it to provide a backdrop for everything else I am about to share. One thing is certain, upon waking I remember a feeling of aw and connectedness and love of all creation unlike anything I have felt before. The dream bolstered my understanding of the “web-of-life” in a manner I will be forever grateful for.

Part of the dream was from the point of view of mostly humanoid beings in what appeared to be a parallel universe to ours. We can’t think of the parallel universes to be separated though. They are mere layers of intricately woven fabric stitched together to create the tapestry of creation. These beings live alongside us and experience everything we experience. For they can see us, but we cannot see them because we are not meant to. While the beings were humanoid in appearance, they were much smaller and magical in nature as what I might imagine the Fae to be.

What I remember the most while experiencing this view from the perspective of these beings was a profound sense of love for humans. There is an interconnectedness between us that forms a symbiotic relationship necessary for the functioning of the fabric of divine reality. In my dream there was a name for their kind, but if faded quickly after my consciousness came back to the physical reality. The closest I can get to it is, “Consensio”.

The Consensio

A quick Google search gave me the following definition, “Consensio is a Latin word meaning ‘agreement,’ ‘consent,’ ‘harmony,’ or ‘unanimity’. It can also mean ‘combined action,’ ‘custom,’ or even ‘plot’ or ‘conspiracy’.” This definition, while I do not believe it is the actual name of the beings I experienced in my dream, perfectly describes the relationship I felt between us. In my dream, I could sense the Consensio beings as a partner experiencing all of my life events as they unfolded throughout my lifetime. I also felt the subtle influence they have on my thoughts and energetic state through soft whispers into my soul (tweaking my actions slightly overtime in a fine-tuning fashion).

The Consensio are attached to us from birth and remain by our side until we are done with this lifetime. While I don’t know for certain, I would not be surprised if all aspects of our alternate lifetimes also have a Consensio attached to them acting as one giant interconnected network of our highest self. Trust me, I’m really trying not to get to “woo-woo” here! In order to fully understand the Human-Consensio symbiotic relationship, we have to first explore the function of humans within the cosmic machine.

Function and Purpose of Humanity

Yes, I believe true reality serves a purpose such as a machine has a specific function. Each cog in the machine serves it particular function within the whole, and the machine cannot function without all parts performing as they were designed. Why else would we receive guidance, protection, and assistance from beings outside our physical reality? We all rely on each other for the whole to function. In my dream, I sensed humans’ purpose in this cosmic living machine. It is to transmute/transform energy from dark to light.

Before moving on, I do have to make one clear distinction though. Please understand that when I refer to “dark energy”, there is nothing bad, evil, or sinister about it. Dark energy simple consists of a different type of frequency, amplitude, or current. Now, I am no electrician so please bear with me while I get nerdy and try to fit this analogy together. The profundity of this dream’s insight made me curse out loud and simultaneously took my breath away. I can only hope you appreciate it as much as I do and pray I do justice by it in my explanation.

The closest analogy I can come up with for the function of human existence is a bi-directional transducer. Many spirit schools have taught that humans are a bridge between the physical world and the spiritual world. I believe this view somewhat limits our responsibility and importance in the grand scheme of the Universe. For, there is no action required for a bridge to act as a properly functioning bridge. It just has to be built and not collapse. However, if we begin to think of creation as an energetic circuit, we can begin to understand our role as transducers more fully.

According to Wikipedia, “Bidirectional transducers can convert physical phenomena to electrical signals and electrical signals into physical phenomena. An example of an inherently bidirectional transducer is an antenna, which can convert radio waves (electromagnetic waves) into an electrical signal to be processed by a radio receiver, or translate an electrical signal from a transmitter into radio waves” (Wikipedia, 2025). In my dream, all of creation was arranged as an interconnected web of electrical circuit, full of transducers, transformers, capacitors, resistors, and every other conceivable component of a circuit. Each life form serves its own purpose in the circuit of whose purpose it is to provide power (life-force) and current (directional flow) to all of creation.

I am certain there is far more to the full truth than the simple analogy I have described. It will work perfectly to explain what my dream led me to understand about our nature and role within the greater whole. In my dream, Humans were the antenna, and the Consensio were the transmitters and receivers. It was our responsibility to convert physical experience into energetic signals for the Consensios to transmit to higher realms. We also were responsible for converting the received electrical signals from the Universe and higher beings into physical experiences. In which case, we are the antenna and the Consensio are the receiver. Naturally, one cannot function and serve its purpose without the other performing its function and purpose efficiently and effectively.

Symbiosis and Harmony:

The concept of two separate entities living in symbiosis is not foreign to humans, as we can look anywhere in the natural world to observe innumerable symbiotic relationships. In fact, it doesn’t necessarily take a rocket scientist to understand that nature is tirelessly attempting to return existence to harmony via life’s beautiful array of symbiotic relationships. Even our own bodies are ripe with a plethora of symbiosis between bacteria, organs, cells, neural networks, and other microscopic creatures. Therefore, it does not take a drastic stretch of the imagination to believe there could be symbiosis within the spiritual/energetic realm.

As far as I have thus far come to understand, energy and consciousness can be used synonymously. Like energy through a circuit, consciousness cannot flow without the proper functioning of symbiotic units and harmony within the circuit of reality. So, what is “proper” functioning you might ask? Well, I’m glad you asked because this is an absolutely fundamental and life-altering question I have been asking myself for a large portion of this lifetime. It is a question directly related to my dream in that we have a grand responsibility to perform our function as antenna properly so the remaining parts of the circuit can also perform their function properly.

As most can ascertain, human existence has long had a bad habit of being disharmonious. As individuals, our own life can lack harmony and current flow because someone forgot to give us the user’s manual at birth leaving us to bumble around blindly for large portions of our life. Then, as a human society, we tend to be disharmonious because we all have varying ideas of what our role, purpose, and responsibilities are as humans in physical existence. Everyone vehemently believes their version of the user manual to be the correct one, and we fail to realize we’re all reading the same manual just in different languages (like those giant fold-out instruction manuals that list the steps in every conceivable language).

What does all this mean?

I could probably explore this topic for days, if not weeks, but I feel it is starting to get kind of lengthy. Therefore, I will try to wrap it up with a nice little bow. The concept of beings in parallel realms (perhaps within different octaves of the same tune/reality) living in a symbiotic harmony with Humans fascinates me. I am eternally grateful for the dream as it has permanently altered my experience of my own reality. Humans have a relentless habit of thinking of ourselves as living this experience out separated from everyone and everything else our senses can perceive.

Some may believe we have guides and guardian Angels who help us from time to time, but I’ve never felt or heard about symbiotic energy beings who were as much a part of our lifetime experiences as our lungs for breathing and brains for processing electrical signals. I also find it a fascinating concept to think about our experience being a part of the grand mechanics of the Universe. How cool is it to think that we humans were blessed with such a vital role within the cosmos as being an antenna designed specifically to transduce energy between the physical and “spiritual” realms?! Am I the only one who thinks it’s freakin awesome?

And you want to know something I think is even more beautiful and fascinating? The fact that we have all been uniquely designed to transduce consciousness in precise, individualized manner. The answer to our earlier question of “what is ‘proper’ functioning?” is, it depends on who you ask! We all have our own unique way of transducing energy as well as our Consensio partners have their own unique way of transmitting and receiving energy to/from the Universe.

So, how do we know if we are performing our functions properly? We all have our own internal “green lights” and “red lights” to let us know if we’re running things smoothly or if we need some fine-tuning.

**Side note- I do wonder why, as a society, we decided green means good/go/safe while red means stop/bad/danger. It must have something to do with the frequency of the colors. Wikipedia (2025) reveals “the frequency of red light is approximately 400–484 terahertz (THz), while green light has a frequency of about 525–600 THz. Red light has a lower frequency and longer wavelength, whereas green light has a higher frequency and shorter wavelength within the visible spectrum”. I can only assume it is built into our natural programming to want to go toward higher vibrational energetic paths and stay away from lower vibrational energetic paths. Another fine example of our “external” physical reality perfectly reflecting our “internal” energetic reality. A topic for another post perhaps. **

Thankfully, we seem to have helpers in many realms attempting to aid us in fine-tuning our antenna so we may all function as an efficient (harmonious) circuit. We do have a great responsibility to understand our individual, unique functional programming (know thyself). My own software version is written differently than anyone else’s which can be both beautiful and frustrating. We live in a world that tends to encourage collective programming and design rather than a variety of supportive software updates designed to enhance original programming. Wow, I didn’t realize I had so many nerdy analogies in me!

Finally, I’m getting to the point. Thank you for your patience. What I am ultimately attempting to do is translate that the part we play in the Universe is so much grander and more important than we can possibly imagine. My dream has led me to believe there are beings living at separate but parallel energetic frequencies to us who act in harmony with us and the Universe serving their own unique function. I have caught but a simple glimpse behind the curtain of reality and feel a bit like Alice who has just opened the entrance to the rabbit hole. I’d be honored if you joined me on the journey!
